Cinnamon Sleepy Time Chai

With the upcoming time change and the energy you need for those longer spring days, there’s never been a better time for a good night’s sleep. And if you’re looking for something soothing as you drift off to dreamland, it’s time to try some chai! You’ll love how easy this recipe is, but you will need one item you may not have on hand: a cloth or mesh bag suitable for looseleaf teas. (These are available on Amazon as well as specialty tea stores.) This cinnamon-flavored drink will keep you warm as winter winds down and help tell your inner-clock that it’s time for rest and relaxation. Sip and enjoy!



Servings: 2

Ingredients


2 cinnamon sticks

1 tsp. cardamom pods

½ tsp. whole clove

½ tsp. fennel seeds

1-in. piece fresh ginger

2 c. whole milk

1 tbsp. honey

2 bags decaf black tea

Cinnamon powder

Steeping bag for looseleaf tea



Preparation

  1. Add cinnamon sticks, cardamom pods, cloves, fennel seeds, and ginger in steeping bag and tie properly.

  2. Add whole milk and honey to a saucepan. Whisk well for 10 seconds.

  3. Steep spice bag and decaf black teabags in the warm milk for 10 minutes.

  4. Remove the bags and froth the milk by whisking for 2-3 minutes.

  5. Pour into a mug and add a pinch of cinnamon powder.

  6. Enjoy!
