Dinner Rolls



The homey smell of fresh-baked bread is guaranteed to add a whole new level of cozy to your kitchen, and you don’t need a high degree of culinary skill or an expensive appliance to make it happen! This deceptively simple recipe creates soft, buttery rolls that are a perfect accompaniment to a holiday feast, and once you’ve enjoyed the taste, you’ll never go back to store-made versions. Servings: 8 rolls


Ingredients


1 c. warm water

2 tbsp. olive oil

2 tbsp. honey

2 tsp. salt

3 ⅓ c. flour

1 ½ tsp. yeast

1 egg, for egg wash



Preparation

  1. Combine water, olive oil, honey, salt, flour, yeast, and water in a large bowl.

  2. Mix well and knead for 10-15 minutes until the dough is elastic.

  3. Transfer the dough into a well-oiled bowl.

  4. Cover with a towel or plastic wrap and let rise once for 1 hour in a warm place, until the dough has doubled.

  5. Preheat oven to 375˚F.

  6. Cut the dough into 8 portions and shape into balls.

  7. Place balls onto greased cast-iron pan and cover for 30 additional minutes with a towel or plastic wrap.

  8. Uncover and brush each with egg wash.

  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
