October brings a chill to the air and, of course, the chills and thrills of Halloween. But it’s also Financial Planning Month — a great time to get a handle on your money and start saving up for the future.

October 4: National Taco Day. Is there such a thing as a bad taco? Probably not. Even if you already had some for Taco Tuesday, enjoy one today. After all, it's an official holiday.
October 5: World Teachers Day. Teachers deserve our appreciation and support every day, and today is dedicated to celebrating them. Thank you, teachers, for your dedication, inspiration, and leadership!
October 31: Halloween. Whether you're trick-or-treating or enjoying a scary movie, we hope you have a happy and safe Halloween.

Financial Planning Month: Up-front Homebuying Costs to Save for. If a home purchase is in your future, you're likely looking at home prices and interest rates, but don't forget to plan for additional, up-front expenses involved. This graphic includes a chart breaking down up-front costs like Earnest money, Down payment, Agent commission, and Closing costs. If you feel overwhelmed by these numbers, don't be! Knowledge is power, so now that you have an idea of the extra costs, you can start saving and make a plan to reach your goals.
